Appealing fusion of world and jazz music from
Vienna's first couple of jazz

Christoph Irrgeher, Wiener Zeitung

The best CD’s of 2008: News from Austria:
Michaela Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik, teamed up for more than ten years private as well as professional, present a disk with their quartet.
Result: Ten originals, one time latin influenced, the other time jazz-pop, with haunting melodies and pleasant soli of Pawlik’s guitar and Rabitsch’s trumpet.
Oh yeah, some tunes she also sings – very sympatic! Winning!

Michaela Tschida, Kleine Zeitung

Travel. The duo Michaela Rabitsch (tp/flg, voc) and Robert Pawlik (g) invites – together with Karl Sayer (b), Joris Dudli (dm) and guestmusicians to Latin America, Cuba and Africa or to „Knozen beim Mnozil“, the legendary Viennese musicians venue. Exciting relaxed jazz for easy listening at it’s best!

Susanne Nolden, Frau im Spiegel

Austrias only female jazztrumpetplayer – she also sings – and her guitarist let slip in inspirations from Africa, from Cuba, but also from their Viennese home town in their brilliant songs.
A discovery!

Elisabeth Habitzl, Brigitte

Moody jazz. Michaela Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik are a couple for years – privately and artistically. Musicially the duo complements each other perfectly, you can hear it throughout their second CD „moods“ (Extraplatte), although they perform this time as a quartet.
The jazz trumpeter and singer, who is attested to have a voice like velvet and silk and the guitarist sound out with ten songs very subtle and with a lot of joy in playing the whole spectrum of moods: quiet loneliness, blithful enjoyment, gentle melancholy or exuberant companionability.
Also African sounds and Cuban rhythms swing from desire to soulfulness – moody jazz with plenty facetes.

Natascha Zeljko, Myself

With „moods“ the Viennese jazz trumpet player Michaela Rabitsch has released a marvelous CD – fantastic to chill.

Franz. X.A. Zipperer, Sonic

To facilitate moods musicially, that’s a special ability of the Viennese trumpeter, flugelhorn player and singer Michaela Rabitsch and and her partner Robert Pawlik on guitar. Consequently the name of their latest album is „moods“.
Full of curiosity they stride through varying moods, explore atmospheres, once expressing them shimmering on trumpet, once dancing through them as soft as butter and nearly flying.
The different (musical) rooms are furnished with appropriate timbres. Up one minute and down the next, this spectrum of moods is outlined convictive and full of ideas and suspense.
Full of atmosphere Michaela Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik let the tunes swing, it’s a sheer pleasure.

Splendid Jazz from Austria: we like it! Rating: ingenious

Hannes Höttl, Wohin in Wien

News from Viennas sypatico „First couple of Jazz“.
Ten high-grade originals between tradition and modern (funk, african), led by Pawliks masterly Gibson Archtop guitar and Rabitschs smooth trumpet play.

Peter Hiess, Wiener

Moods. When you listen to Austrian Jazz-acts and the programme in the clubs you could mean, that this genre offers exclusively worldmusic sounds. On the new album of trumpeter Rabitsch and guitarist Pawlik you can feel a little of this -but besides of Cuba and Africa you can fiend the Viennese soul and calm, moody moments.
A hopefully new/ old approach.

Peter Ostwald, guitar

For ten years now singer/ trumpeter Michaela Rabitsch and guitarist Robert Pawlik are a couple – privately and in music. The third CD offers swinging jazzpop with Latin- and funky elements, the mood stretches from blue to lively. Exciting with that certain Viennese charm.

Franz J. Sauer, Weekend Magazin

Moods. For ten years now singer Michaela Rabitsch and guitarist Robert Pawlik share their paths, musicially as well as privately. The new album „moods“ arised as quartet. Performed guilt-edged, good arranged, never forgetting the roots of Jazz, latin and Funk.

Lothar Trampert, Gitarre und Bass

From the Austrians Michaela Rabitsch(voc/ tp) and Robert Pawlik (g) a new album came out, recorded in quartet. Well done, swinging mainstream-jazz, originals in a standards formate – „moods“ is the name of the new album.

Klaus Haertel, Clarino

„Moods“ is the name of the current disc of Michaela Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik – by the way their third common one. And the title – moods – describes the programm.
Influences of African, Cuban and Latin-American music are converted by the trumpetplayer and singer and by the guitarist into ten tracks – once melancholic – once powerful and energetic.
The influences are international. But performed and composed by Viennese musicians they get that unmistakable Viennese charm – demanding, but without loosing the access to the audience.

Micc Brunner, Lichtspiele

Singer and trumpet player Michaela Rabitsch and guitarist Robert Pawlik share their lives now for ten years. With „moods“ they present an eventful third CD with exclusively original compositions. The title stands for the programm – moods in all facets.
